Weekly Photo Challenge: Juxtaposition

Finally had the time to do a weekly photo challenge.

Just to make up for lost months of no post, I am showing three photos of my take on this week’s theme. And I decided to show juxtapositions of random things with different age groups.

The first photo shows my uncle-grandpa photobombing on a photo of a lechon (roasted pig) on his 92nd birthday. This is so ironic because at his age and health, he should not be allowed to eat lechon. But still it is part of the menu of his birthday feast. And yes, he still eats it.

The next photo is of me juxtaposed with an old portrait of my great grandmother. Creepy. Need I say more?

The last photo is of my niece. Her expression is such a cute contrast of how a kid her age should be reacting to the things laid out in front of her.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Community

What best describes a community other than the depiction of the circle of life? Am I right? 🙂

Nature’s Trade Off

20130716-231000.jpg “Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing, it was here first.”
– Mark Twain

As a citizen of a developing country, it is satisfying to see actual “development” happening via massive infrastructures being built around you.

But seeing tiny plants in pots forcefully brought inside to live inside these infrastructures, one also cannot help but think: Are we trading off nature for development?

For the sake of development, shall Mother Nature be forced to be a foreground that’s out of focus?

I hope not.

Weekly Photo Challenge: The World Through Your Eyes

20130623-153730.jpg

Excuse me for taking this week’s photo challenge theme literally.
To understand my submission, you should know one thing about me– I am nearsighted.
I was born with congenital myopia and now my eyes need corrective lenses with a grade of -9.00.
So, yeah. The photo shows the world through my eyes when I’m wearing eyeglasses. The center is clear but the top and bottom edges are super blurry. Hence, the photo.

This was taken outside the building where I am a corporate slave during lunch break using iPad Mini. And it was edited using Snapseed.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Future Tense

20130325-234521.jpg

Just bought and assembled this 3D puzzle of the Statue of Liberty in New York City. It has LED lights at the base, which makes it so cool.

Anyway, when I saw this I thought to myself: I just had to have this!
Aside from the fact that I love puzzles, I also love that it’s reminiscent of one of my dream travel destinations — New York City.

I want to visit the city that never sleeps because of three major things:
1. Broadway Musicals – I want to see at least one (but if possible, ALL) theater show in Broadway.
2. Gray’s Papaya hotdogs – after seeing the movie, Fools Rush In, where Matthew Perry’s character constantly crave for this hotdog, I can’t help but connect this food to the city. I just got to try one!
3. Times Square – seeing this busy intersection on tv and in pictures really gives me the chills every time. I love the lights, the busyness, and the diverse people. So I plan to take lots and lots of pictures of this one day.

This may be a dream for now but I know one day I will get to see you, New York. Stay as awesome as you are… and wait for me. To the future and New York!

I took this photo the second time I went to visit Singapore. And no matter how many times I get to see it, I’m still in awe of it’s uniqueness and majesty every time.
